Fast Fashion Therapy are now holding a regular workshop on a monthly basis at the Remakery, 51 Lilford Road, SE5 9HA

More Information

A regular sewing workshop: Eleanor and Sarah are on hand to help you repair and upcycle your clothes, practice techniques on examples or bring along your own clothes to repair and alter.

We are a friendly and inclusive group, feel free to share ideas with others on how we can mend and refashion clothes to reduce textile waste.

We have space for 12 people. 2 to 3 sewing machine places and the rest hand sewing spaces. We provide an individual basic sewing kit for you to use during the class plus some materials. All you need to bring is one or two items of clothing you want to repair, alter or refresh. Here are a few ideas on what people bring along.

Fast Fashion Therapy

Fast Fashion Therapy is a sewing workshop that encourages the repair, upcycling and remodelling of used clothes, looking to break our habit to always buy new. A collaboration between Eleanor & Sarah, the original idea for the name came from creating a workshop space that acted as a practical therapy for our collective addiction to fast fashion.

The Remakery

The Remakery was born in 2012 out of a disused car park in South London. Located between Brixton and Camberwell, our not-for-profit maker-space has fostered a community of makers, artists, local residents and enterprises that have been breathing new life and creativity into things destined for landfill.

Encouraging people to actively rethink, recover, reuse and redistribute surplus materials

Why sewicals are the new night out

‘Garment-mending workshops are opening up across the country, promoting a more responsible attitude to fashion and a space to unwind. Fleur Britten and her holey sweater drop in’ Stella Magazine, The Sunday Telegraph, 23 January 2022

We are thrilled to be included in Stella Magazine’s article on mending circles. Thanks to Fleur Britten for getting in touch and including Fast Fashion Therapy. It is encouraging to see so many clothes mending groups popping up all over the country.

‘People share ideas on the local area, their favourite charity shops and fashion’s lack of sustainability. People arrive with no sewing skills, but leave with their clothes fixed and always happy. It’s addictive.’

Sarah Richards, Fast Fashion Therapy, Stella Magazine
